After an audition, how long does it usually take for a callback to happen? Is Skype a con? Do they deliberately false advertise?
callback
How long after a commercial audition callback does it take an actor, on average, to hear if he or she is on avail or not if they are going to be put on avail?

Yes usually you’ll get a call-back or casted within 24 hours. If not, then maybe they’re seeing more people. If a week goes by and you haven’t heard back then you didn’t get the job Sorry.

If you have a callback, generally you will be told when they will inform you. Usually–but not always–community theatres will call you and tell you one way or the other. However, professional companies will not always do this. Many times after the callback, the show is cast within 24 to 48 hours, but this isn’t always the case. I was just cast in a show where the director took their time and we didn’t know for almost a week.

I don’t feel that it is improper for you to call or drop by the theatre company and politely ask if the director has made any casting choices yet. If they have, be polite and say thank you–if you where not cast, you may be next time! If the director has not cast yet, you can politely ask when they might notify you. Auditions are jobs, it doesn’t hurt to be pro-active. Just be professional! If you where not cast this time around it doesn’t mean they didn’t like you. You may be perfect next time!

Hope this helps and break a leg!

It all depends on which type of audition you are doing. In the theatre equity, non-equity. Television, Movies, Theatre all have different time frames depending on the size of the role and the budget of the casting directors.

Sometimes it can take up to a month or two to find out, sometimes it can be right after you are done talking. Feel free to ask the production assistants or assistant stage managers. Don’t bother the director or casting director with such a question.

break a leg… and don’t worry if it is taking a long time. When one door closes, another one opens.
