I’m going to University next year (University of Waterloo, in Canada) and instead of going for a landline phone service – costing up to 30/month for locals calls only – I’m gonna try Skype, which only costs 2.95/month for unlimited calls in the entire country to mobiles AND landlines.
I would like some opinions on the pros and cons of Skype versus traditional landline service. I’ve heard that VoIP calls may experience dropped calls or crackling, but the Internet service at Waterloo guarantees that VoIP calls gets prioritized. Any other issues?
I just don’t understand why EVERYONE hasn’t switched to Skype… I mean at 2.95/month, who cares about a little static if you can save 27 bucks everymonth..?
Thanks.

Bret, I agree with you. Skype is a great deal. The feature that I couldn’t live without is the Online number. Brilliant!
