I have a Blackberry Storm and I am going abroad for 10 days coming up soon. Am I able to use The Blackberry Storm to make calls back home (US) and to text message internationally? Is there something I have to do or will it just work when I go abroad?

Try Fring! It offers domestic and international calls using VOIP. Friend of mine uses it and loves it. Saves a lot of money.

Blackberries are becoming more and more like computers. I’m doing an internship and hardly have any money, so I canceled my mobile phone account since it was costing too much money. I’m not sure if I should get a blackberry or a netbook, and configure them for wifi or voip, to get internet/phone capabilities for very low cost or even for free(if I’m in a wifi hotzone). I don’t mind paying upfront costs of maybe $200 to $300 the most, so long as monthly bills are nothing or very small after. It seems all blackberries out there are sold by wireless providers or come with a plan; is there a way to just buy a blackberry without a plan or contract and get wifi or voip?

I live in a large city, so the wifi hotzones are almost everywhere. I don’t mind if I miss calls by 5 or 10 minutes or if takes a while to return them if I am out of an area with wifi or voip coverage – my work doesn’t involve emergencies. I don’t want to do anything illegal. So a blackberry or netbook for very cheap phone/internet? Thanks.

Did any one try using skype on 3g networks or on a phone, like blackberry? free 3g calls on skype or voip 3 g?

I’m trying to find out if skype / voip will work on 3g networks using a blackberry or any other 3g phones over a data plan through T-mobile. It is $30 dollars a month for unlimited data. Did anyone tried making calls over 3g networks? Thank you.
