Let’s say I’m talking to someone on VOIP and I want them to hear a song on my computer. How can I have the music play through the microphone to the other person? (There are no speakers, just a headset).

In my case, I got a Video Phone. it is a VoIP phone with a built in camera, so I can talk as much as I want and see who I am talking to for a flat rate. Best thing about it is that it has the regular Audio Video Input / Output at the back. I can play my video camera, my mp3 player, and I can even hook it up on a TV or a computer for the other person to see.

I think some web based VoIP lets you send files, so you can just send an MP3 file and let the other person hear the music. I am not sure of how legal that is though. you know how the music industry goes.

There is also the “analog loop”. it is as simple as going to radio shack and getting one of those cables that have stereo jacks (male) on both ends. plug one end to the mic and one to the headphones slots. you can also get a couple of stereo jack splitters so you can still plug in the actual mic and head phones so you can still talk to each other. this method is not the best, but it works.

I recently purchased the XBox360 version of GH-WT and, naturally, it came with a USB microhpone. As I’ve also been thinking about getting a microphone for my PC I’ve been wondering whether it could serve this purpose, particularly under Linux.

If so, the mic’s performance stats would also be appreciated!

I know the mic that comes with Rock Band can be used as a PC mic using Windows XP. The mic that comes with Rockband is a logitech US B mic. I assume the Guitar Hero World Tour mic would work as well since the mic can be used on both games and both are USB mics.

I do not have Linux installed on any of my PCs at the moment so I am not sure on that part of your question.
