Via Voice over IP that replaces your landline phone. Works great if you have high speed connectivity like DSL. Look at Lingo or Vonage. Depends upon what country as to the cost of the international; both have major europe countries for free.

Zero cost calls between Voip users is the big selling point. Also, many Voip providers now offer business users Virtual PBX funtionality.
So thats the answer. Its very very flexible and extremely cheap

It depends what you mean.
If you mean a phone that plugs into a phone line or a VOIP adapter, such as a Vonage box or MagicJack, there is no difference.
Now, you can get VOIP specific phones, which have the VOIP adapter built in, and plug into the wall with Ethernet cable, or use Wi-Fi to connect to a VOIP service.

No it’s the internet connection that you have.
It may provide high speed, but it’s not a reliable and steady signal.
In order for VoIP to work well you need at least a 90Kbps upload rate. That a sustained rate, and at that rate you are still only getting a 80% signal quality.
To test this try making a call either really later at night like after midnight or before five am in the morning.
There are some thing that you can adjust to help but 9 time out of 10 is the connection.
